Introduction: Authorial experiences during the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic at Lombardy region, Italy since February 2020 are presented.
Objective: To present the experiences during the period of medical collaboration
Development: The results achieved, after 60 days of intense work by Cuban health professionals, include 5667 medical care and 3556 nursing procedures, 219 saved lives, acquired an invaluable experience in the treatment of sick patients with COVID-19. They reinforced knowledge in biosecurity and management of acute situations during thes epidemics in a field hospital. This paper also reveals challenges they faced and how the social collaboration with local authorities, Italian army and health authorities contributed to the efficient response of the Cuban international medical cooperation team.
Conclusions: The necessary lessons learned constituted the fundamental directions and principles that guided the comprehensive work of this Brigade and conditioned the fulfillment of the assigned mission.
