Pedro D. Castro Pérez MD
Physician with dual specialization in ophthalmology and family medicine. Dr Castro is a staff ophthalmologist in the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service of the Ramón Pando Ferrer Ophthalmology Institute in Havana. He completed a residency in family medicine in Matanzas province before going on to international service in Venezuela and a residency in ophthalmology. He is now working toward a master’s degree in comprehensive pediatric care and a diploma in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.

Heenry Dávila Gómez MD MS
Obstetrician-gynecologist with a master’s degree in women’s comprehensive health care. Dr Dávila is on staff of the Héroes del Baire Hospital, Isle of Youth Special Municipality, serves as municipal clinical trials coordinator, and is assistant professor at the Isle of Youth Faculty of Medical Sciences. He has received several research awards for his work, and his current investigations focus on gynecological cancers and markers of renal damage in pregnant women with chronic conditions.

Pedro Más Bermejo MD PhD DrSc
Physician with dual specialties in epidemiology and health administration. Dr Más is full professor at the National School of Public Health and senior researcher at the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine and the Cuban Academy of Sciences. He served 14 years as director of the National Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology Institute, and has published widely on epidemiology and public health. Dr Más currently directs the Revista Cubana de Higiene y Epidemiología and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Public Health Policy.

Valia Pavón Morán MD
Pediatrician and hematologist. Dr Pavón is deputy director for clinical services at the Hematology and Immunology Institute in Havana, where she is an associate researcher and instructor. Her current research focuses on treatments for leukemia and congenital spherocytic anemia.

Gustavo Rodríguez Salinas MD
Ophthalmologist and specialist in family medicine with diplomas in clinical ophthalmology and ocular plastic surgery. Dr Rodríguez is a member of the ocular plastic surgery team and an instructor at the Ramón Pando Ferrer Ophthalmology Institute in Havana. He is currently developing research on Cuba-Bolivia cooperation in vision health, particularly its social impact in La Paz, where he is now serving as an ophthalmologic surgeon.
