Margarita Chacón Roger MS PhD
Nurse with a master’s degree in health psychology and a doctorate in health sciences. Dr Chacón’s practice and research focus on cancer care, particularly palliative care and quality of life, and on occupational stress in the health professions. A full professor and senior researcher at the National Oncology and Radiobiology Institute, she chairs the palliative care department in the Medical University of Havana’s Manuel Fajardo Medical Sciences Faculty and is a member of the national examining board for nursing in Cuba.

Leonor Díaz Rigau MD MS
Clinical microbiologist with a master’s degree in infectious diseases. Dr Díaz’s responsibilities at the Municipal Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, Güines, Cuba include laboratory quality control and investigation of nosocomial infections. Her research interests focus on antimicrobial resistance.

Justo R. Fabelo Roche MS PhD
Clinical psychologist. Dr. Fabelo is full professor at the Medical University of Havana, where he coordinates the Scientific and Technological Development Unit for research on drug addiction. He has published extensively on addictions, psychological effects of epilepsy, and quality of life of children and adolescents with epilepsy.

Porfirio Nordet Cardona MD MS PhD
Cardiologist with a master’s degree in epidemiology and statistics. Dr Nordet’s career has included deputy directorship of the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery in Havana and a leadership role in WHO’s cardiovascular disease unit.


Dinorah C. Oliva Venereo MD MS
Internist with a master’s degree in infectious diseases. Dr Oliva is an associate professor at the Enrique Cabrera General Teaching Hospital, Medical University of Havana, Cuba, where she is active in both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Her research interests center on HIV/AIDS.

Lourdes María Pérez Clemente MD MS
Pediatric nephrologist with a master’s degrees in infectious diseases and atherosclerosis research. She is associate professor and researcher at the Central Havana Pediatric Teaching Hospital. Dr. Pérez has published her research on pediatric renal transplants in Cuban and international journals.

Sati Prasad Sinha MD
Public health physician. Dr Sinha is professor of community medicine at Shri Sathya Sai Medical College & Research Institute in Kancheepuram, India, where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses.
