Adiuska Calzadilla-González MS
Historian. Ms Calzadilla-González is assistant professor at the Gibara Municipal University Center affiliated with Holguín University, Cuba. She is currently researching regional histories of public health, with a special focus on yellow fever outbreaks in the town of Gibara, Holguín Province.

 

 

 

Alberto J. Dorta-Contreras MS PhD
Biochemist. Dr Dorta-Contreras is full professor and senior researcher at the Dr Miguel Enríquez Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Havana and researcher at the Central Cerebrospinal Fluid Laboratory, Havana, Cuba.

 

 

Danays García-Blanco
Pharmacist. Ms García-Blanco is a pharmacology laboratory research specialist in the Pedro Kourí Tropical Medicine Institute, Havana, Cuba, where she has contributed to studies of drug safety, oxidative metabolism and therapeutic ozone. Her research interests are in pharmacogenetics and ozone therapies with applications to antiretroviral therapy.

 

 

 

Merlin Garí-Llanes MD MS
Cardiologist and family physician with a master’s degree in comprehensive pediatric care. Dr Garí-Llanes is associate professor of pediatric cardiology at the José Luis Miranda Pediatric Teaching Hospital in Santa Clara City, Cuba. Her expertise is in hypertension and cardiovascular disease risk, with particular emphasis on early detection of risk in pediatric populations.

 

 

Macarena Hirmas-Aduay MPH
Midwife with a master’s degree in public health. Ms Hirmas-Aduay is associate professor and researcher at the Epidemiology and Health Policy Center of the Medical School, Clínica Alemana, Universidad del Desarollo (CEPS-CAS-UDD), Santiago, Chile, where she directs courses in epidemiology and field studies. An active investigator of public health issues across the life span, Ms Hirmas’ current research examines impacts of assistive device policies on functional capacity and disability in older adults.

 

 

 

Elena Kokuina MD PhD
Immunologist. Dr Kokuina is full professor and senior researcher at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Clinical-Surgical Teaching Hospital in Havana, Cuba, and adjunct faculty at the Medical University of Havana. She has published extensively on immunologic diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. With numerous awards for her achievements including recognition from the Cuban Academy of Sciences, her current
research addresses the clinical value of autoantibodies in autoimmune disease.

 

Luis Eduardo López-Montenegro MS PHD
Mathematician and engineer. Dr López-Montenegro is senior researcher at the University of Nariño and assistant professor in the María Goretti Center for Advanced Studies in San Juan de Pasto, Colombia. A specialist in biomathematics, he works on mathematical models of vector-borne disease transmission in human and mosquito populations.

 

 

 

Carlos Manuel Orantes-Navarro MD
Nephrologist. Dr Orantes-Navarro is national renal research coordinator for the Ministry of Health’s National Directorate of Non-Communicable Diseases, San Salvador, El Salvador. His work focuses on the epidemic of chronic interstitial nephritis affecting
agricultural communities, including clinical presentation and epidemiologic and pathologic fi ndings. He is a member of the
International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and its Disadvantaged Populations Program and Social Media Task Force .

 

Bankole Oyewole MBChB
Physician. Dr Oyewole is a Foundation Year 2 Doctor at the South Thames Foundation School (UK). He has being admitted as a Core Surgical Trainee at the Kent Surrey and Sussex Deaneary (UK). His research interests include global surgery and One Health.

 

 


Ailed Elena Rodríguez-Jiménez MD MS

Physician with dual specialties in family medicine and cardiology, and a master’s degree in satisfactory longevity. She works as a cardiologist in the coronary intensive care unit of the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital, Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. Dr Rodríguez-Jiménez researches risk factors and predictors of myocardial infarction with a particular focus on the predictive value of ECG test results.

 

 

Alcibiades Villarreal PhD
Biotechnologist. Dr Villareal is a postdoctoral fellow at the Science and High Technology Research Institute of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Panama City, Panama. Among his research interests are cognition, aging and neurodegenerative diseases.
