María del Carmen Arango-Prado MD PhD
Physician specializing in immunology with a doctorate in the medical sciences. Dr Arango is full professor at the Medical University of Havana and head of Basic Research Department at the National Oncology and Radiobiology Institute in Havana, Cuba (INOR). Her work focuses on the intersection of cancer and immunology. In 2003, she received the Cuban Academy of Sciences Award in the category of biomedical sciences.

Yenisel Carmona-Cartaya MD MS
Physician specializing in microbiology with a master’s degree in bacteriology and mycology, Dr Carmona is an instructor at the Pedro Kourí Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK) in Havana, Cuba.

Helena Jeanne Chapman MD MPH PhD
Physician specializing in public health, with master’s and doctoral degrees in public health. Dr Chapman is a professorial lecturer at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. Her research uses qualitative methods to evaluate public health practices for infectious disease prevention and control. 

Saylí González-Fiallo MD MS
Physician specializing in epidemiology with a master’s degree in epidemiology, Dr González is head of the Health Surveillance Department at the Municipal Public Health Division of the Isle of Youth, Cuba.

Jeongok Gang Logan RN MSN PhD
Registered nurse with master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing. Dr Logan is an associate professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Her current research focuses on the mechanisms by which psychological stress contributes to arterial stiffness, identifying causal risk factors and developing culturally sensitive interventions for reduction of arterial stiffness in people at high risk of cardiovascular disease.

Nayade Pereira-Roche MD MS
Physician specializing in clinical biochemistry, with a master’s degree in atherosclerosis research. Dr Pereira is an assistant professor and adjunct researcher at the National Medical Genetics Center (CNGM) in Havana, Cuba.

 

Bienvenido Antonio Veras-Estévez MD MPH
Physician specializing in epidemiology, with a master’s degree in public health. Dr Veras-Estévez is dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universidad Católica del Cibao in La Vega, Dominican Republic. His research uses quantitative and qualitative methods to examine infectious disease risks and enhance prevention and control efforts in hospital and community settings.
